Were Not Rocket Scientists – We Are Realtors…
ByIn my brief 10 years in this business, almost 90 percent was spent working for one of the Largest Police Departments in the United States of America, not to mention the World – The LAPD. I had my interactions with other agents prior to me aborting my"full-time" police officer status. Before I became the "twice a citizen" persona that I am now, a Full Line Reserve Officer, I negotiated and wrote and accepted offers on behalf of my buyers and sellers. However, having said that, Paris was the full-time hub in the business. She had daily dealings with the others that are in our industry.
I had not been privy to the groups or networks that had their formations as a result or by product of being involved in Real Estate Resale. However,Paris had been, and I used to speak with her about her interactions and the personality’s that revealed themselves in those groups. It was a further eye opener for me to hear the stories, but to actually witness these things myself, that is a eye remover!
I had been to the awards banquets, celebrations, ranking meetings, and the like, I have sat next to the others that were involved, as some would say, "My Competitors". I must explain that my mind-set does not allow for me to even contemplate particular ideas.
Here are a few things that I have my line in the sand on and will never allow my conscious mind to cross:
1. I don’t believe in Luck (I think the universe is much too organized for that!).
2. I don’t look as the other agents in this industry as competitors (I have something to offer that would not be a good fit for some of the buyers and sellers in the world – However, I do offer something that others that are working in the field of Real Estate don’t have! So I work from a vantage point that there is enough business for everyone.)
3. I will not have my ethics brought into question. (If I can choose the money road versus the making the client happy road – The "Happy Client" road will always win out.)
4. Giving Back (Contributing what we make back into the Emergency Services Community is what we do – Baker to Vegas, purchasing well needed emergency equipment, Memorial Services, helping families of fallen officers, sponsoring events to earn money for the children in communities, the list goes on and on)
5. Being Thankful (always finding things to be thankful about – "I am thankful for __________________________."(fill it in))
This venture is not all for "ME"! It is not all about "I". I do believe the team concept or model can exist in a Real Estate Networking Group. I do believe that together if we strive for something bigger than ourselves and our bank accounts – We can truly make a much bigger impact. Even on a Global scale. When we focus on ourselves we miss the picture, we cannot grow. It is up to us to make this World a better place and that starts by giving selflessly. We have to want to focus on making a community better- When you do that you will be over your head in clients, leads, buyers, sellers, name recognition, etc. Not to mention being over your head in having "Done The Right Thing!"
We are working on a group as we speak that I hope will have some of the ideals that I have written about as its foundation. If it does not. Paris and I will continue to surround ourselves with other agents that work by the same code and honor based ethical approach to Real Estate. - CONNOR with HONOR
