March 29, 2007, I walked into 150 North Los Angeles St, and went to the 5th floor, Personnel to meet with the Resignation Coordinator. Actually it was Don Keith, the Retirement Coordinator. But I was about three years from being able to meet with him for an official mark.
He had me sit down and went over the numbers, but not at one moment did he try and dissuade me. It seems that Don had been watching us perform during the last 10 years in the Blue Line and amongst the Police Divisions in our advertising of Santa Clarita Homes and Other Real Estate Venues. Don was one of the few that completely supported my decision. He knew that I was serious and If I had to work 24 hours a day to take what Paris had been building on a full time basis to make it work even better, I would gladly do that.
I cannot say that looking back that I have made a mistake. I have not, in fact I have not really had a chance to look back at the time since I resigned. I have been too focused on looking forward. I have always been an advocate of not looking back, because in a full on run at the finish line, you might trip and fall.
I suppose that is how we are running our lives and business. I have a huge amount of respect and admiration for the Men and Women of any Public Service Entity. Law Enforcement, Fire Department, Teaching, Military and the like are all oath takers of one type or another. Along with their particular oath’s that they take and swear allegiance to, they also understand that it is not the one but the whole. It is the needs of the many that outweigh the needs of the few. They are working for the same amount day in and day out, doing a fantastic job at wanting to help people and strive for a better community.
One of the interesting things that happened to me and my mind was the fact that after I walked out of Parker Center as a Reserve Officer - Where my income started to depend on what I did on a larger scale, my brain seemed to have unlocked. The branding concept I understood. It was the technology and its tie with Real Estate re-sale and the "Paris911" concept that was where I needed to focus. A client base we had, from the years that Paris was alone in the trenches. Defending our clients and striving for a better business model.
What we did not have was a well formulated business plan and origination. Now, we do. I have been blessed to have been introduced to several key people during the past year as I look back, writing this post. Some were extremely responsible for our success and us climbing to the next level during this "hard" Real Estate Market. They were the Catalysts to my higher understanding of the "how" in the INTERNET and World wide web. They continue to provide me with the support I require here at REMAX of Santa Clarita and Paris911 - The 911 Team. They help me understand my INTERNET bloopers and have given me the ability to balance controversy with the people "our clients" wanting good and truthful Real Estate News and advice.
Thanks go out to Martin, Jeff, Kristen, and Chris - I could not have been successful without your input.
More importantly and worthy of a huge amount of acknowledgment are the Men and Women of the Los Angeles Police Department, Los Angeles Fire Department, Los Angeles Sheriff’s Department, Los Angeles County Fire Department, California Highway Patrol, the Los Angeles Unified School District, the Saugus and Hart School Districts, Simi Valley Police Department, Ventura county Sheriff’s Department, Orange County Sheriff’s Department, Los Angeles City Communications Division, Federal Bureau of Investigation and Federal Air Marshall’s - The DEA and ATF, the USMC, Army, Air Force, Coast Guard and Navy - There are just too many for me to go on. But to everyone that utilized our services over the past 10 years we thank you for your friendship and referrals.
We will look forward to serving you next go around - CONNOR with HONOR
