Real Estate Investing in the Santa Clarita Valley or in one of the other boards of Realtors we are full members of, is something that has to be well planned. But one of the more important choices you are going to have to make is going to be whom you choose to hitch your trailer too.
There are quite a few Real Estate agents out there that are very hungry. God Bless them and I know this market is tough, but it is not the time for the weak. It is also not the time for the lazy. Now is the time for those of us that are still working hard to work even harder and to keep the pressure off of our clients and on our work ethic.
When choosing an agent to represent you please be careful and make sure you ask the right questions. Most of the questions should be about work ethic and some "what if" type scenarios. What if I choose to pull out on one of the final days if I have not removed my contingencies? How many homes can we look at before you will demand I write an offer? How hard are you going to work for me? What would you look for in an investment property if you were the one looking?
All of these questions are good, but you also need to see what this person (Realtor) is about in the world. Where are they, where have they come from and what is their background. Some have financial degree’s which is helpful, but I think a more powerful asset would be that of a hard negotiator. Not a negotiator with you, but a negotiator with the seller’s agent or the bank. They are the ones that a hard line stance, has to be taken with, to keep your best interests close and not violated.
As a training officer told me back in 1991. "Horsefly - Pick and Choose your friends wisely." Sage advice, now you must pick and choose your Realtor wisely. - CONNOR with HONOR
